Cheesecake store Enne opens flagship store in Hioki, Kagoshima – Also offering clothes
Yudai Fujii, the owner
On December 18, the cheesecake store Enne opened its flagship store in front of the Super Center Nishimuta Ijuin branch in Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture.
Yudai Fujii, the owner, used to be a physical therapist. His wife, Tomomi, also used to work as a medical clerk but retired when she gave birth. Since her hobby was cheesecake making, they decided to open a shop in February 2017, with the hope that they could do what they love while raising their children.
Initially, they built a 10-square-meter hut next to their house and used it as a sales outlet. As the rich cheesecake made with brown sugar from Amami Islands became popular, in July 2020, they moved their outlet to the interior design store Comstore. “We have always envisioned to open a flagship store in Ijuin,” said Yudai. From now on, both the flagship store and the Tokaicho branch will offer the products.
The new store has an area of 85 square meters. There are five wooden benches with armrests inside and three tables on the terrace. The main products are Enne Cheesecake (350 yen/piece, 2,100 yen/ whole), Japanese-style Baked Cheesecake (380 yen/piece, 2,300 yen/whole), Chocolate Cheesecake (380 yen/piece, 2,300 yen/whole), and Basque Cheesecake (2,400 yen/whole). Flavored cheesecakes will also be available for a limited time.
The store also focuses on coffee, offering drip coffee (450 yen) made with beans from Coffee Supreme, a brand based in New Zealand, and flavored lattes such as vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut (from 480 yen) prepared by staff trained in latte art.
On January 14, the store also started to carry clothing, showcasing outfits for parents and children and for daily use. Yudai added: “We want to make this a place where people can get ideas for a new lifestyle. Rather than a cake for a special occasion, we hope that people will come to the store for a weekend treat, a souvenir for a friend, or for everyday use.
The opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Parking space for six cars.
