On February 23, an exhibition of works by the 23rd graduates of the Art Department of Kagoshima Prefectural Shoyo High School , “The Starting Point of Twenty-Year-Olds,” opened at the Shop & Gallery SOMETHING in Tenmonkan, Kagoshima City.

Ten students who graduated in March 2020 and turn 20 years old this year are holding the exhibition. Since many of the graduates have gone to universities or vocational schools outside Kagoshima after graduating from high school, they decided to showcase their works in Kagoshima to mark their 20th birthday.

The exhibition features about 30 works, including oil paintings, digital illustrations, photographs, and three-dimensional works. There is also a merchandise section selling postcards, pins, handkerchiefs, and mirrors.

Honami Wakatake, the exhibition organizer, said: “My friends were with me for three years in high school. They have gone on to different paths, but now we are reunited as adults. We hope visitors will enjoy our present-day works.” During the exhibition period, exhibitors will be in the gallery on different days. “Please come and chat with us,” she added.

The exhibition is open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until March 6. Free admission.
