On April 1, Kagoyui Terrace opened on the 18th floor of Kagoshima Prefectural Hall.

The floor was previously open to the public for free as an observation lobby. It underwent a complete renovation and is now available for use. The prefectural government building has a central atrium, and the floors above the second floor are in the shape of the letter “L.” Following the renovation, the terrace has been divided into three zones: YUI (結) on the east side facing Sakurajima, SOUU (窓) on the south side facing Marine Port, and KOUU (耕) on the north side facing Kamoike Park.

A pop-up kitchen, EAT LOCAL KAGOSHIMA, has opened in the YUI Zone, facing Sakurajima and Kinko Bay. This space will serve as a “Kagoshima food information base” and will be used as a place to present food and beverage-related products and for networking. On the 1st, Kinkowan Muku Shokudo will begin its operations and hold an event “Osumi no Fish Color!” in collaboration with the Osumi Area Fishermen’s Association. Hinatayama Muku Shokudo and Soronomachi Sozai will participate in the event, offering boxed lunches and side dishes made with farmed and wild fish from the Osumi area for a limited time.

The SOUU zone is a members-only coworking space. It has two private booths for online meetings, a 12-person meeting room, two 6-person meeting booths, five 2-person tables, and one table for 4-10 people, a total of 56 seats. Membership fees range from 6,600 yen per month for individual members and 550 yen per hour or 2,200 yen per day for drop-in members.

The KOUU zone is equipped with bookshelves made of Japanese cedar wood from Kagoshima Prefecture, containing donated books and other materials. Books are available for free to patrons. The NPO Satsuma Leadership Forum SELF, managing the facility, is raising funds through a crowdfunding campaign, ending on April 24, and will purchase additional books with a portion of the donations received.

Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. EAT LOCAL KAGOSHIMA is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
