Six months have passed since Jigoro Ryori Yururi-An opened near Yaeyama Park in Koriyama, Kagoshima Prefecture.

Kazuho Komura and his wife, who have experience in Japanese cuisine for over ten years at a renowned hot spring ryokan in the prefecture, run the restaurant. It is located at the entrance to the Yaeyama mountain range, surrounded by lush greenery. Inside the restaurant, featuring natural wood grain, there are four Japanese-style zashiki seats, table seats, and raised low table seats with chairs.

The restaurant serves dishes using local seasonal ingredients. The most popular is Yururi-zen (1,250 yen), which includes approximately 11 items such as “gane,” a local dish made with sweet potatoes, and chicken sashimi. Coffee is also included in the set. Other items on the menu include Fried Salted Sakurajima Chicken and Hanao Chicken Rice served with broth in a Kagoshima sake cup known as Kurojoka.

It also offers a seasonal menu and is currently serving an Early Summer Menu, which includes Early Summer Salad Soba Set (1,350 yen), with an abundance of vegetables, and Cold Bukkake Karaage Udon (850 yen), with salted deep-fried Sakurajima Chicken. Rice is cooked in the kamado, a traditional Japanese oven, daily.

Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., until 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Closed on Wednesdays.
