Art Management Course to start in Kagoshima, on various themes
Civic Art Gallery Minato
The “Art Management Course” will be held from August to November at the Civic Art Gallery Minato in the Kagoshima City Hall Minato-Odori Annex.
Kagoshima City sponsors the course, and the purpose is to “develop human resources who can provide opportunities to experience culture and art, and to promote the development of a community where people share an interest.” The first session will begin on August 17, followed by two sessions a month from September to November, seven sessions in total. The themes include: “Planning a Project,” “Networking,” “Raising Funds,” and “Attracting Fans,” to name a few.
Lecturers will include Takao Kunori, former deputy editor and chief online editor of Forbes JAPAN, and Shuichiro Sakaguchi, a musician who also organizes events and venues. Hitoshi Okamoto, an editor; Ryo Nakamori, the owner of the gallery and café Tansuno-Koyashi; and Masahiro Shimozono, the president of Shimozono Satsuo Shoten, will participate as guest lecturers.
Communication Director Yuka Kurose, also one of the lecturers, said: “We welcome anyone interested in art, from students to housewives. Even if they are not working in the art industry or do not plan to do so in the future, they will benefit from this course.”
An information session will be held on June 22 (advance registration is required by 5:00 p.m., June 20). Both the information session and the course are free of charge.
