Inside KAEDE

Two months have passed since KAEDE, a massage studio in Somutacho, Kagoshima City, started a new aromatherapy treatment service.

The studio, opened three years ago, specializes in shiatsu massage in the sideway posture. Yuya Sakamoto, the owner, is a licensed masseur, acupuncturist, and moxibustion therapist. The facility has two beds for treatment in an environment based on pale blue tones. In April, he added aromatherapy treatments to his service as he felt that many of his female clients could benefit more from them than from shiatsu.

Aromatherapy treatments are available on Thursdays and Sundays, only for female clients. Seven types of essential oils are used for treatments, including lavender, geranium, ylang-ylang, sweet marjoram, and bergamot. A female therapist with six years of experience in aromatherapy provides full-body massage. The price is 6,500 yen for 60 minutes (4,500 yen for the first session).

Sakamoto says: “The people I treat feel good, and when they feel good, they do good things. When others see that, they also feel good and do something good. I hope to create such a chain of positive events from our studio.”

Opening hours: 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (From 1:30 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays). 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.
