Almost three months have passed since the farmhouse restaurant Nouka-no-Yakata Isshin opened across from the No. 2 parking lot of Kagoshima Kenko-no-Mori Park in Kagoshima City.

The restaurant, which opened on April 1, is the brainchild of the owner, Nogami, who runs the farm Harumi Noen in the same area. Since a park golf course opened in the Kenko-no-Mori Park, he wanted to provide a place where players can enjoy a meal.

The restaurant has five tables for four inside and two tables in the garden. There is also a section where visitors can buy fresh local produce.

The vegetables and ingredients used for dishes are from Nogami’s farm or sourced from local farmers. The menu includes Isshin Lunch (900 yen), featuring seven dishes such as chicken rice and jidori chicken stew; Omakase Lunch (1,000 yen, weekdays only), with a daily main dish and side dishes; and Yaki Udon Set (700 yen). It also offers Curry, Katsu Curry, and summer specials such as Zaru Soba Noodles, Hiyashi Chuka (Cold Ramen), and shaved ice.

The drink selection includes coffee, amazake (sweet fermented rice drink), and non-alcoholic beer, priced at 300 yen. Coffee beans prepared in collaboration with Mikoya134, a coffee shop in Shimoarata, are also available for purchase. For takeout, the restaurant offers Isshin Bento and Curry bento (both 600 yen). Nogami said: “The bento is perfect for picnics in the park. We plan to continue to develop seasonal menu items.”

Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Closed on Tuesdays.
