On June 23, Sakai Coffee, a café chain from Gifu Prefecture, opened a branch in Bayside Plaza, a commercial area in Hamamachi, Kagoshima City.

It is the 33rd outlet of the chain in Japan and the first in Kyushu. Chairman Satoshi Sakai, who developed the Yakiniku Restaurant Sakai chain, operates the chain’s headquarters, J・ART. The first café opened in April 2007 in Gifu City. The company mainly focuses on opening cafés in suburban roadside locations. The Kagoshima Bayside branch is franchised to Kanan System.

The concept is “a nationwide chain of authentic cafés.” The menu includes Omurice (omelet rice), Neapolitan pasta, pancakes, and other “traditional café” items. For a while after opening, it offered a limited menu but began offering a full “grand menu” on July 16. The café has a floor space of 3,860 square meters and seats 80 people.

The primary menu items are Strawberry and Berry Pancakes (1,540 yen), Teppan Neapolitan (1,080 yen), Hamburger Steak Cooked in Demi-glace Sauce (1,380 yen), and Prawn Doria (Japanese rice gratin) (1,180 yen).

Opening hours: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
