Café Serendipity relocates to Meizancho from Shimoarata, Kagoshima

Three months have passed since the café Serendipity Meizan relocated to a new location in Meizancho, Kagoshima City.

The café used to be housed in an old traditional Japanese house in Shimoarada. Since the owner, Yukito Choumaru, is also a painter, the concept of the café is “art and music.” Wishing to “coordinate interesting projects with various people,” he decided to relocate the café to the current location on the second floor of Guest House M104, where guests from other prefectures and overseas frequent.

The inside of the café features a bar counter, which can accommodate up to 60 people standing. For a seated event, it can accommodate up to 35 people. There are also sofa seats and three tables at the back, and the space can be converted into a private room with draperies. “If there are four or more people, we recommend making a reservation for a sofa seat. As we primarily serve stand-up style, customers can enjoy meeting and mingling with others,” says Choumaru.

The lunch recommendation is the Dipity Lunch (1,580 yen), an assortment of nine items such as appetizers and sticky barley rice, served with soup, drink, and “mini-dolce.” Other offerings include Speed Lunch (980 yen) and Salad Lunch (980 yen). The content changes daily, but all dishes feature Korean lettuce hydroponically grown by ECODESIC in Chiba Prefecture. The takeout Cured Ham Sandwich (700 yen) is “a specialty of the café.”

The café offers a course during dinner hours that includes an all-you-can-drink option (2,000 yen) and a set of recommended dishes (from 900 yen for three items). A la carte dishes such as fresh pasta, ham sandwiches, shrimp dishes, hamburgers, and spiced curry are also available. A beer garden is scheduled to open on the fourth floor in September.

Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
