Ice Cream Expo ‘Aipaku’ to be held at Amu Plaza Kagoshima, first time in 3 years
Mikan Bonbon from Cream-do
Ice Cream Expo “Aipaku” is to open at AMU Hiroba at Amu Plaza Kagoshima on September 16.
The event will bring together local ice cream products from across Japan. It is the first time in three years to hold the event in Kagoshima, and as September 17 marks the 18th anniversary of Amu Plaza Kagoshima, it acts as one of the commemorative events.
Iceman Fukudome, an ice cream critic, oversees the selection of products. Over 90 types of regional ice cream will be available this year, with approximately 25 making their first appearance in Kagoshima. Examples of first-timers include: Cream-do (Hyogo), offering Mikan Bonbon (740 yen), soft-serve ice cream layered with whipped cream and mandarin orange flesh; Peach Senka Yamashita (Yamanashi), featuring ten types of gelato (from 520 yen) made with peaches from its own orchard; and Tokyo Shave Ice Necogoori (Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo), serving shaved ice with Iburigakko (smoked pickles), nuts, and cheese sauce (from 1,300 yen)
Other stores that gained popularity and became regulars at past events will also join the expo, including Patisserie Yanagimura (Kagoshima City), offering Frozen Shirokuma, and New York Do (Nagasaki), providing Nagasaki Castella Ice Cream. Ice cream from Hokkaido and Miyagi will also be available.
The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until the 25th of this month.
