Disney Store 30th anniversary event to be held at Amu Plaza Kagoshima
The event, held at the Disney Flagship Store in Tokyo
On November 5, the “Disney Store 30th Anniversary Pop-up Museum,” an event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Disney Store, will open on the second floor of the Amu Plaza Kagoshima main building.
The store, which marked its 30th anniversary in Japan on August 21, has been holding the event sequentially since August, and the event will run for a year. It will take place in nine cities where a Disney Store was previously located, and Kagoshima is the third city to host the event, following Tokyo and Nagasaki. Walt Disney Japan sponsors the event.
In Kagoshima, the first Disney Store opened in Tenmonkan in December 1996 and operated until August 2007. In September of the following year, it relocated to Yamakataya and remained there until its closure in March 2009. It has been 13 years since the Disney Store came back to Kagoshima.
At the event, a chronological table showing the past 30 years of the store’s history and hit products from previous generations will be on display. Commemorative items for each milestone, such as the opening of the first store in Yokohama and the 5th and 10th anniversaries, will also be exhibited, and visitors can see the entire line of original plush toys.
Exclusive items for the event and 30th-anniversary collectibles will also be available for purchase. The lineup includes plush toys, commemorative watches, mugs, and other gift items. The Kagoshima exclusive items include gift cards (3,000 yen), featuring the design initially used on the telephone card issued at the grand opening of the Disney Store Kagoshima Tenmonkan, stickers (275 yen), and keychains (1,650 yen).
The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. until December 4, with free admission. On November 5 and 6, visitors will need to make a reservation for entry via the Disney Store membership app or obtain a numbered ticket distributed on the day of the event.
