‘YOKA anbe’ in Kamoike, Kagoshima, offers acupuncture and meridian lymphatic massage

Two months have passed since “YOKA anbe,” a salon offering acupuncture, moxibustion, and meridian lymphatic massage, opened in Kamoike, Kagoshima City.
Taku Kuwayama, trained in acupuncture and moxibustion in Miyazaki, opened the salon on August 23. Since Kuwayama’s father runs a Kampo pharmacy, specializing in traditional Japanese herbal medicine at the nearby Ninimuta Shopping Mall Kamoike outlet, he chose Masagohonmachi as a base to “provide a treatment that combines acupuncture and moxibustion with Kampo medicine, which has the same background.”
The concept is “a treatment center that does not require repeat visits,” which he learned from his mentor in Miyazaki. “Yoka anbe” means “right balance” in the Kagoshima dialect. The interior of the salon is decorated in dark brown with hanging lamps, giving it a warm and inviting atmosphere. It has two private rooms, each equipped with a treatment table.
The treatment menu includes acupuncture (3,300 yen for 30 minutes, 5,500 yen for 60 minutes), assisted stretching (1,100 yen for 10 minutes), meridian lymphatic massage (3,000 yen for 30 minutes), and a beauty acupuncture facial with head massage (8,800 yen for 45 minutes).
Kuwayama added: “I want to make this a place that serves as a bridge between people of all walks of life, providing not only treatment but also everyday guidance and consultation. I hope to give back to my hometown of Kagoshima, which has nurtured me.”
Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays). Closed on Sundays. Parking spaces for two cars are available.
