It has been two months since the massage salon “Santitham no Kaze (Wind of Santitham): Specialist in Thai and Asian Techniques” opened in Uearatacho, Kagoshima City.

Yuki Kozuma opened her own salon on January 5 after working at a Thai massage salon in Kagoshima City and running a private practice by appointment.

The salon covers an area of approximately 83 square meters. It has a counseling room, three private rooms for treatment, and a foot massage area. The name “Santitham” comes from the district in Chiang Mai, where Kozuma learned traditional therapy at a school last summer.

For the interior, Kozuma chose white walls to bring it in line with the bright image of a spa. She says she loves Thailand and has visited the country countless times and displays artwork she purchased there. The salon also has a corner displaying and selling traditional Thai design clothing and zakka.

The salon’s menu includes Thai Body Care (from 5,500 yen for 60 minutes) and Oil treatment (from 6,500 yen for 60 minutes), both with a footbath. Kozuma’s recommendation is a 45-minute treatment (from 5,500 yen) using herb balls, a traditional Thai folk remedy. It is a treatment in which several kinds of herbs are wrapped in a cloth, steamed, heated, and pressed against the body, and has been used in Thailand to help women regain post-natal health. The salon imports herbs directly from Thailand, including eight varieties grown on organic farms. Clients will receive one of the herb balls used in the treatment and can warm it up in a microwave for use at home.

Kozuma added, “Not only women but also men are welcome. We are open until late, so please come in after work.”

Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays. One parking space is available.
