Candle-related events and a market will be held on June 17 and 18 on the seventh floor of Maruya Gardens, Kagoshima City.

Maruya Gardens is a partner company of the “Zero-Carbon City Kagoshima” announced by Kagoshima City. The candle events are a part of the annual environmental campaign held in June, designated Environment Month in Japan. The candle events include a Candle Market where candle artists from Kagoshima and other prefectures gather, Candle Night at the rooftop garden Solaniwa, and candle-making workshops.

At the market, in addition to Kagoshima candle makers, there will also be stalls from Tokyo, Hyogo, Fukuoka, and other prefectures. Handmade candles and related items of unique designs will be on display and for sale. At the Candle Night, Atelier NiwAtocO, a candle artist in Hioki City, and WAGO Creation, a woodwork artist in Kagoshima City, will collaborate to present a candle installation depicting water, wood (earth), and light that evoke a sense of life.

Opening hours:
Candle Market: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (workshops until 2:00 p.m.)
Candle Night: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (venue may change or event may be canceled in case of rain)
