One month has passed since Shunsen Zushi Yumeka – Tachigui Dokoro, a stand-up sushi restaurant, opened in Nishida, Kagoshima City.
The restaurant opened on June 1 and is managed by Yumeka, a company specializing in interior design, renovation, and exterior painting, Eisuke Akiyama, who operated a sushi restaurant in Tenmonkan for 12 years, serves as the store manager. After closing his previous establishment in January this year, Akiyama became one of the individuals responsible for the new restaurant, in line with the company’s intention to expand into the food and beverage industry. The company chose a stand-up-style sushi restaurant since it is an unconventional choice in Kagoshima.
The first floor features a stand-up counter, while the second floor offers 24 table seats. Each table is equipped with a tablet for ordering and seven at the stand-up counter.
Sushi prices range from 70 yen per piece. Hon Maguro Akami (lean tuna) starts from 240 yen per piece. Akiyama’s recommendation is the Maguro-only Set (from 2,200 yen). Course menus are also available.
The restaurant also offers side dishes such as sashimi, tempura, grilled dishes, fried foods, and desserts, including Rib Karaage and Prosciutto Carpaccio (both priced at 800 yen). Seasonal Japanese sake is also available. The average customer spending is around 2,000 to 2,500 yen at the stand-up counter on the first floor and 4,000 to 5,000 yen on the second floor (including drinks).
Akiyama added, “Feel free to stop by when you want a quick bite before or after drinking or when you feel a little hungry.”
Opening hours: 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
