‘Kumamoto Furugi Caravan,’ gathering of vintage clothing stores, to be held in Kagoshima
Previous event held in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture
The event “Kumamoto Furugi Caravan,” bringing together vintage clothing stores, will be held on July 16 and 17 at the covered event plaza of Kanmacheer in Hamamachi, Kagoshima City. It will be the first time the event to take place in Kagoshima.
This marks the 11th edition of the event, organized by Shuichi Kamesaki, the owner of BROOKS Vintage & Roaster, an event organizer, vintage clothing showroom operator, and coffee roaster based in Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Since its first event in Kikuchi City in July 2021, the concept has been to have “a caravan team of vintage clothing stores venturing out of their shops and selling their items in various towns.” The event has taken place in various locations throughout Kumamoto, and in May, it was also hosted in Fukuoka City.
The venue will feature ten vintage clothing stores, flower-related shops, and food and beverage establishments from Kumamoto, two vintage clothing stores from Fukuoka, and 15 vintage clothing stores and restaurants/cafes from Kagoshima, making a total of 27 participating businesses. Kamesaki said that this edition will be the largest scale to date. The host from Kagoshima will be the vintage clothing store Vintage & Collectibles BEER located in Uearatacho.
Kamesaki added, “It’s an event where you can visit and explore various vintage clothing stores from different regions. I hope visitors will encounter unique vintage items during this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is 100 yen (free for elementary school students and younger). The event will proceed even in case of rain. Visitors will receive a Kumamoto Furugi Caravan original sticker as a souvenir.
