On July 13, the eel restaurant “Nadai Satsumano-Unagi (名代 薩摩乃うなぎ)” (Phone: 099-204-9919) opened on the first floor of Hotel Gasthof in Chuocho, Kagoshima City.

Kirishima-based company Joint Life manages the business. The company opened the restaurant, aiming to offer a place where people can casually enjoy the eels from Kagoshima’s Osumi region, which boast the highest production in Japan. The restaurant has a counter with five seats, two tables for four, and two tables for four with tatami seating.

The menu includes grilled eels, such as Satsumano Goku (Half Eel: 3,000 yen) and Satsumano Gokujo (Whole Eel: 4,500 yen), and eels served on rice, such as Unaju Regular (Half Eel: 1,800 yen) and Unaju Superior (3/4 Eel: 2,480 yen). All of these dishes come with a set of condiments, clear soup, and pickles.

The restaurant, which emphasizes the concept of “savoring delicious eels to your heart’s content,” values its generous potions. The manager added, “We hope our eel will help you cope with the heat this summer.”
