This month's Fubako Lunch

Café fubako in Yamadacho, Kagoshima City, reopened this April.

The café had been closed for two years. Although the interior remains the same, terrace seating and tables in the arbor have been added in its garden with a pond. The floor space measures approximately 142 square meters and has 11 tables and 5 counter seats, including outdoor and upstairs seating. Kashiwada Yuki, the owner of the café, said, “We have many customers with dogs,” and made two tables at the arbor pet-friendly.

The Fubako Lunch (1,300 yen) changes monthly, and this month’s lunch plate includes cold Inaniwa udon noodles, hamburger steak, multigrain rice, sunomono salad, salad, and dessert. The dessert lineup includes cakes and ice cream, and shaved ice will be on the menu starting next month. Wood-oven roasted coffee, black tea, jasmine tea, and apple juice (from 450 yen to 600 yen) are available on the drink menu.

Customers can also use the space on the second floor, and Kashiwada said, “We recommend it for workshops, seminars, and community gatherings.” Contact the café for rates and availability.

“Our café is surrounded by nature, and we have a library section and furnishings that create a museum-like atmosphere. I hope you relax and enjoy your time at our secret-hideaway-like café even during the rainy season,” she added.

Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and holidays.
