Recruiting participants for PLAY CITY! DAYS to discover and spread charms of Kagoshima City
2020 participants promoting PLAY CITY! DAYS
PLAY CITY! DAYS, a workshop to discover and spread the charms of Kagoshima City, is recruiting 100 participants for this year’s event.
This year’s workshop, sponsored by the city of Kagoshima, is the third of its kind, and a total of 280 people, mostly Kagoshima residents, participated in 2019 and 2020. This year, in addition to 75 residents of the city, 25 people from outside the city, including those from the Tokyo metropolitan area, will participate in the event “to generate new dynamics by uniting residents and non-residents.”
As with last year’s event, which was all online due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s all official events will be held online. However, the scope of this year’s workshop will be expanded to include new areas that have not been covered in the past, and each team will have the opportunity to work in the city during the planned period. There will be 10 teams (10 members each), and applicants can choose up to three of the 10 options from the city’s six geographical areas and four themes such as culture and tourism.
External advisors will also participate in the event, including Yamazaki Ryo, an expert in creating systems to connect people and community design; Higashikawa Ryutaro, known as “the expert of Kagoshima streets”; and Nagaoka Rina, an entrepreneur who runs Otetsudabi, a service that allows people to travel while getting paid for helping locals. In addition, participants from the past two years will serve as supporters.
The application form will be available from July 1. The deadline for the first round of applications (on a first-come, first-served basis) is July 18 at 11:59 p.m., and the second round of applications (by lottery if the number of applicants exceeds the limit) is July 29 at 5:00 p.m. PLAY CITY! DAYS will be held from August 9 to December 19.
