Grilled skewers from Gourmande Pomme
It has been two months since Gourmande Pomme, a bar specializing in grilled skewers and wine, moved to a new location along the Koutsuki River in Chuocho, Kagoshima City.
The new premises, relocated from Nishida, has a “slightly Japanese-style interior with a relaxed atmosphere.” The owner, Ohisa Hayami, said, “We decided to focus on counter seating so that customers can feel comfortable even if they come here alone.” The bar has two tables and eight seats at the counter.
Yakitori Chicken Skewers (from 230 yen) are made with Kurosatsuma chicken from Toriniku Daisaku and Takasaka chicken from Kita-Tamba, Hyogo Prefecture, and grilled over Binchotan charcoal from the Tosa region. The assorted Chef’s Choice Yakitori are available for five skewers for 1,000 yen and eight skewers for 1,520 yen. Pork Wrapped Vegetable Skewers (280 yen each) come in ten varieties, including green onion and burdock. The bar also offers charcoal-grilled Omi Beef Steak (1,900 yen) prepared with beef from Sakaeya, a butcher shop in Shiga Prefecture, as well as chicken sashimi, horse sashimi, a la carte dishes, chicken rice, yakisoba, and spaghetti.
The wines are mainly natural and are displayed in a walk-in cellar for customers to pick and choose. Also in the cellar, customers can select cup sakes, which come in individual servings. Beer, highball, and shochu are also available.
Shaved ice (from 1,000 yen, limited to 60 servings) made from natural ice specially ordered from an icehouse in Nikko is available during lunchtime and for takeout.
Ohisa added: “We now have a wider variety of skewers and a cellar where you can choose not only wine but also cup sake. Our place has a comfortable atmosphere. Please come and visit us.”
