The online community SATSUMA COLLE-AGE will hold an online event on September 22, inviting Higashikawa Ryutaro, the president of the NPO Machizukuri Chiiki Forum-Kagoshima Tanken no Kai, as a lecturer. USK Kikau, an Usuki-based company, organizes the event.

SATSUMA COLLE-AGE was launched in July on Facebook under the initiative of Ueyama Naho, the director of Ueyama Jin Clinic, as “a place for people who enjoy lifelong learning in the era of the 100-year life.” It is open to anyone who has a passion for learning.

The title of the first online event by the community is “A Guide to Walking Around Kagoshima: Digging Deeper into Every Region – 600 Kilometers North to South.” In the event, Higashikawa will cover little-known information about Kagoshima and topics related to the registration of Amami-Oshima Island and Tokunoshima Island as World Natural Heritage Sites.

Hidaka Masahiko of the community’s administrative office said: “You don’t have to be a member of the community to participate. Now that people spend more time at home, we hope this will be a good opportunity for them to discover new, little-known charms of Kagoshima from the comfort of their homes.”

The event will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. using Zoom. Participation is free. Sign up for the event via Peatix.
