The café space of TIAM

TIAM, an egg crepe shop near Kagoshima-Chuo Station, opened a new café space in mid-August.

The shop opened on May 29, run by Ikedas, a husband and wife team. It serves egg crepes made with eggs instead of traditional crepe batter, Onigirazu (rice ball sandwich), and ice cream float. Initially, the shop was only open for takeout. As they began to hear from customers that they wanted to spend more time in the shop, and Ikedas also wanted to offer new items that customers could consume there, they converted the former event space into a café.

The new café space, with 12 tables, covers an area of 20 square meters. The interior was finished in the style of a “cute room for girls.” After adding the café space, Ikeda said that it “now has a wider range of customers, including older people and housewives.”

TIAM has six types of egg crepes on the menu, including Tuna Mayonnaise (320 yen), Wiener Sausage and Lettuce (320 yen), Omurice (360 yen), and Keema Curry (470 yen). It also offers Onigirazu with Pork and Egg (240 yen) or Teriyaki Egg (240 yen), Melon Ice Cream Float (480 yen), and Frozen Mango Smoothies (500 yen).

Spaghetti Napolitana with tomato sauce (570 yen), hot dogs (420 yen), and waffles (450 yen) have been newly added to the café’s menu. Ikeda’s recommended dish is the Spaghetti Napolitana. He and his wife created their own recipe for the dish, which he describes as “thick and hearty.”

“The café is decorated with art and zakka. I hope customers will enjoy the atmosphere as well as the food,” Ikeda added.

Opening hours: 11:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Closed on Wednesdays.
