The Yakiniku Restaurant mitton in Chuocho, Kagoshima City, reopened for business on September 24.

The restaurant, which has a café-like appearance with a cow logo, opened on July 24. Uchida Mitsutoshi, a chef and one of the co-owners, said, “We designed it to be stylish so that female customers would feel comfortable coming here.” The first floor has eight counter seats and four tables, and the second floor has seven semi-private tables.

For meat, the restaurant focuses on freshness. “We use meat that is so fresh that it can be served as sashimi, even Senmai (omasum). Many people overcook Horumon (offal) because they don’t know how long it should be cooked. I want to tell people that they can enjoy it by just searing it briefly,” Uchida described.

Mitton’s recommended dishes include Thick-Cut Prime Tongue (1,680 yen), Mitton Ribs (1,180 yen), Mitton Loin (1,180 yen), and Mixed Horumon (1,280 yen). The yakiniku sauce has a sweet taste, and Uchida says, “It goes well with rice as well as meat.” He uses Akihonami rice produced in Kagoshima Prefecture.

“We want to not only operate the restaurant, but also tell people how to grill meat to enhance its flavor,” he added.

Opening hours: 5:00 p.m. – midnight (3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the shortened business hours.
