The “Kagoshima Antique Market” will be held on April 9 at the covered event plaza of Kanmacheer in Hamamachi, Kagoshima City.

The event takes place every year in spring and autumn. This year’s event will be the 15th since it started at Dolphin Port in November 2015, with the idea of “creating an opportunity for antique dealers and customers who like old things to get together in a place with convenient access.” Yuko Gotan, who runs the antique specialty store EUROPE ANTIQUES, organizes the event.

36 vendors, including coffee shops and patisseries in addition to antique and vintage clothing stores, will gather at this year’s event. Five of them are opening their booths for the first time. On the day of the event, there will be Retro Mai, which handles antique tools and furniture; Kobijutsu Yagi, offering antique art such as ceramics and hanging scrolls; BEER, specializing in vintage and military clothing and zakka; Tsumugu, an antique and zakka store; and Antique Brighton, selling vintage furniture and zakka from the UK and Scandinavia. Gotan will also be exhibiting antique plates and antique lace she purchased on a business trip to France in March.

Gotan said: “This event has attracted a lot of attention from vendors in and out of the prefecture. All the vendors, from the veteran to the young, have done their best to prepare for this event. We hope you can feel the sense of professional pride we take in our work.”

The event will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.
